The Rangiora RSA Club Fishing Section was formed in November 2005 by a few keen fishermen.
The then President – Fred McKenzie, Secretary – late Stuart Crabbe and a Committee set about forming a fishing club for both men and women members, under the umbrella of the RSA Club.
All financial members of the RSA Club are eligible to join and the section currently has a membership of 80. The annual subscription is $20 per year with additional funds raised via Friday night raffles at the Club rooms. Funds raised are used to subsidise members fishing trips and competitions when representing the Rangiora RSA Club. The Fishing Section also contributes to a “Children’s Learn to Fish Day” organised by the Kaiapoi Club.
Charter boats are used for trips to Motanau Beach, Moeraki and occasionally Kaikoura. Once on board, all is supplied and any fish caught are filleted and shared equally between the fishermen. Back on shore, one skipper prepares a BBQ.
We participate in sea and river fishing. We are continually looking for new venues and fresh charter boat adventures down south, possibly out of Timaru or Oanaru.
Trip to Motunau is approx. $100 per day plus petrol
Trips down south are around $150 plus petrol
Every Friday night we run our raffles and share fishing stories at the long table of knowledge at the RSA. Please just ask the bar staff where we are and join us.
